Dr. Kent Butler, 2021-22 ACA President introduces the 2022 Presidential Candidates.
I am extremely proud to have been nominated in 2022 by the Midwest Region of the American Counseling Association (ACA) to be a candidate to become ACA President.
Myself, along with five other outstanding candidates (Drs. Christine Suniti Bhat, Carlos Hipolito Dalgado, Elizabeth O'Brien, Paul Peluso, and Summer Reiner) participated in the Winter 2022 elections and shared our leadership visions, hope for the profession, and ways we would impact the Strategic Plan.
The membership selected Dr. Christine Suniti Bhat as the association's 73rd President and she will begin her term July 1, 2024. Congratulations Dr. Bhat! I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Bhat on ACA's Governing Council and I know she will be an outstanding President.
I will continue my work in the field as we work together to enhance the lives of the people we serve. I also will continue to help others learn how to advocate for issues that are important to them, provide continuing education for mental health providers, and work with my graduate students at Counseling@Northwestern.
I want to thank the Midwest Region for their support and for nominating me to run for such a prestigious position. I also want to thank the other candidates who strongly support our profession and have dedicated decades of service to counselors. We are stronger together, and together we move forward.
